Beautiful farm engagement in South-Africa

Farm Engagement of Johann & Megan

Johann & Megan’s beautiful farm engagement in South-Africa is an inspiration for couples looking for a relaxed engagement session. Johann asked Megan to marry him under a Waterfall in the Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal.  Surrounded by nature, one of the most amazing mountain ranges in South-Africa.  What more can a girl ask for?

Let this couples engagement shoot with the talented Wiaan Coffee be the inspiration for your engagement shoot.  Johann and Megan love the outdoors which made their engagement location extra special.  Their engagement photo shoot with Wiaan was on a farm showcasing the beauty of South-Africa.  You can see in the images how much fun they had.  From laying in the long grass to kissing the day goodbye under the African sunset.  Enjoy this beautiful engagement.

Engagement Ring:

Where to begin. The ones closest to me say its perfect for me and describes me completely. It is plain yet beautiful and unique. Not too many extras but worth the wait. It’s a narrow rose gold band with 0.58-carat diamond (honestly I have no idea what that means). To me its exactly what I wanted. Rose gold plain band with a diamond. I wanted a ring that I can wear every single day- comfortability was key.

How long were you dating for, before getting engaged?

We met in 2012, at varsity where we became friends and later best friends. When Johann finished his last year of studies in 2014, he came to visit me in Jeffreys Bay that December where sparks started to fly and on the 28th of December, we then had our first kiss and also started as a couple since then.

As my best friend, I’ve always loved him, so it wasn’t long after we started dating that I said “I love you” we both were stunned at what just came out of my mouth but soon after came a reply of “I love you too”.

We have been dating since 2014, and I was almost certain he would ask me to be his long life partner in December 2018, but sadly I was wrong. Later understanding why he didn’t ask me then – as he knew I wanted to be surprised and he knew I was expecting it. But he did buy the ring though – without my knowledge.

Your engagement story:

In February 2019, Midmar Mile weekend. A little extra info: I swim the Midmar Mile every year since we have been dating and he has been my number 1 supporter. This weekend has always been our getaway/special weekend.

So on the 10th of February 2019, we went on a hiking trail in the Drakensburg – something I love to do. The hiking trail ended under a waterfall, and there the special-dream-come-true moment of my life happened. Johann got down on one knee on a not so sturdy rock that we were standing on. I could not believe what is happening, without answering him I could not stop kissing his face and finally, I said the big yes.

The waterfall or hike was chosen because we both love the outdoors and I absolutely love hiking trails. He wanted to keep it simple as he wanted to keep it a surprise – which was completely.

The wedding day in short:

I have been dreaming of my wedding since I was a little girl so when we got engaged, I could not sleep a wink and googled different venues. The next weekend we went to Sweetfontein Boutique Lodge where we booked our special day of promises on the 5th of October 2019.

Our wedding will be a description of who we are as a couple, Afrikaans Traditional food will be of utmost importance and of course good music to dance on, and great people, our family and friends. As you have probably realised plain Jane is my middle name, therefore our wedding is white, grey/silver and green sage.

Touches of lanterns, fairy lights and candles everywhere. Giving a glow of love and a soft touch of elegance. The chapel is outside with a high ceiling and open sides, the venue is an old farmhouse that has been modernised and an open plan patio with shutter doors which will be open on the evening.
