Nick & Maigon’s elegant and minimalist wedding with greenery, white, black and gold touches. Maigon’s favourite colour is green, Nick’s favourite colour is black and white. So this lovely couple decided that everything goes well together and then they just added a touch of gold to give their wedding that elegant, soft and warm edge.
We are totally crazy about their wedding venue. Those exposed brick walls and big double volume windows are spectacular. It work so well with their wedding decor. Even though the venue still has that industrial feel to it, the colour combinations used for the decor blends it all together.
Nick played the guitar while Maigon was walking towards him without seeing each other. They held hands on the corner of an exterior wall in the garden. Magical! We can just imagine the amount of happiness and Adrenalin that shoots through your body. What a great idea – definitely something we are going to see our readers do more. Thank you to the talented team of LORA Photography for the great photographs.
Your engagement story:
We had a short engagement. Before asking Maigs though, I planned a secret trip to Namibia to ask her parents for their blessing in asking for Maigon’s hand in marriage under the guise of a business trip. Also, I planned a surprise engagement so that the people that are closest to us (family and friends) could witness me asking Maigon to marry me. Some of Maigon’s family flew to South-Africa for the evening and on the 27th April 2019. I asked Maigon to be my wife, she said yes, and the evening was enjoyed with the people that we love most.
Story behind the wedding dress:
In all honesty at first I couldn’t care less what wedding dress I would wear so I opt for the renting option. After my first dress fitting the reality sunk in and to my surprise I was getting more and more particular to what I wanted. We found my perfect dress at Belle Sulize, a small boutique located in Cape Connection, Pretoria. I would have never imagined myself wearing that specific style but it worked out wonderfully in the end. I’d definitely advise other ladies to be open to all sorts of styles – you might just find your dream wedding dress being a totally different style to what you would’ve imagined!

Favourite Wedding Memory:
Maigon: Kissing my best friend for the first time.
Nick : Kissing Maigon for the first time after Rory pronounced us as husband and wife.
Wedding Venue:
We were actually set on another venue but we were very disappointed with their service in helping us with our big day, with time running out. We planned our wedding in 2 months. With limited options to work with I googled “wedding venues” in hope to miraculously find another venue that presented who we were as a couple as well as accommodated our vision and budget. With so many factors against us, I really didn’t have much hope and had made peace with the fact that we’ll have to make do with what we have. I can remember my eye catching the suggestion column and something about the advert caught my eye.
Lieu de Grace, meaning place of grace, was sticking out like a sore thumb on my computer screen, I went into their website and it was everything that we wanted, prayed for and dreamed of. I phoned Viviene while saying a little prayer that their venue would be available for us and by God’s grace it was. Finding this venue is one of our testimonies today – how God’s grace has been evident through our whole relationship and with the limited time we had to find a place, we found one that perfectly suited us. Big shout out to Viviene and her team for being truly incredible and putting my bride heart to ease every step of the way.
Music Selection:
JP Cooper’s Cheerleader and we chose this song because it’s a beautiful song and the lyrics are personal to us.
Advice to couples planning their wedding:
Pick three things of your wedding that you go all out on example food, wedding dress, wedding decor or the flowers at your wedding. You can compromise on everything else except those three things. This worked extremely well for us. Planning a wedding can get overwhelming but choosing your three most important things is a good place to start. You can know that what your heart really desires will be presented best on your special day.
For the bride: You set the mood for the day. If you are stress and sweating the small stuff, you’ll make the people around you start stressing. Take in every moment, enjoy it and be who you are. If you’re the type of woman that wants to sit back and relax do that. If you’re a doer like me that can’t sit still, keep yourself busy by doing what you want to do. This is your day. Leave other people’s expectation of what you should be doing at the door! Also a little music and champagne while getting ready never hurt nobody. For the couple: Always be where your feet are.
