Super excited to share Anton & Mari’s Engagement shoot at their friend’s house in Bloemfontein with you. They had a lovely photoshoot with Go Urban Photography at the comfort of their home. We love the photographs so much. There’s just something special about an engagement session inside your own house. Just the feel of it makes you want to book a photoshoot!
Mari and Anton got engaged on the 27th of March 2019. They met each other in their second year of University in Bloemfontein. They have been dating for four years and five months before they got engaged. Anton asked Mari the big question at a beautiful restaurant with spectacular views of Bloemfontein. Engagement Story:
Anton told Mari that they had a business meeting with some of his acquaintances and that she should join them. Meetings like this happened sometimes and Mari didn’t find it strange. Two hours before the “meeting”, Anton sent Mari a voice note from one of the attendees, saying that the place of the meeting has changed to the beautiful restaurant, The Edge, on top of Naval Hill, in Bloemfontein. He is the owner of the restaurant and it was thus also not suspicious.
The Edge is famous for its breathtaking view of Bloemfontein. When Mari arrived, the whole restaurant was booked just for the two of them. A small table with flowers and champagne awaited them just as the sun was about to set. Anton proposed and both of them were overwhelmed with joy! They enjoyed the sunset and celebrated their engagement while experiencing the beauty of the City of Roses
Where did you get engaged?
Anton chose The Edge Restaurant for the engagement because of its balance between nature and the city. Bloemfontein, as well as nature, are close to their hearts and from this restaurant, you have the countryside and the city-elegance in one. Naval Hill is also a part of a nature reserve where the big and small game can be seen in their natural habitat. It is the only nature reserve in the middle of the city.
Furthermore, Naval Hill and The Edge have a quiet and peaceful ambiance. For their engagement shoot at the beginning of May 2019, the couple chose the beautiful residence of their friends, Elsabe and Fanie Engelbrecht, in Bloemfontein. The house has a modern feel with stunning natural elements.
The story behind your Engagement ring?
Anton knew that Mari would love a timeless and elegant engagement ring. Together with the jeweler, he designed a fine ring with a small and thin platinum band. From the side, one can see the detail in the protea design. He chose a solitaire diamond to finish off the look.

Mari and Anton are getting married on the 28th of September 2019 in Bloemfontein. They chose Warm Karoo & The Kitchen as their wedding venue. They love the country’s tranquillity. The venue transformed a block of stables with a wooden roof into a wedding venue. Add a few wine barrels and a modern finish and you have your dream wedding venue. They are very excited to spend their wedding day with 140 of their close family and friends.
