Proposal Story:
For the last 10 months, I’ve been planning on proposing to Michelle during our vacation in February in Thailand. But due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to sadly cancel our trip. I was devastated. A few days later, Michelle surprised me with a last-minute trip to Bora Bora for Valentine’s Day and told me our plane leaves in 2 days! So for the next 48 hours, I scrambled to coordinate my proposal plan in Bora Bora. We had always dreamed of going there and so already followed a few Bora Bora-based photographers on Instagram.
I quickly found my favorite photos that were taken in Bora Bora and noticed they were all taken by the same photographer – Damien Gobron. I messaged Damien and he was quick to assist me in planning the perfect proposal. When we arrived in Bora Bora, I told Michelle that the hotel was offering a complimentary Valentine’s Day couple’s photoshoot. Unsuspecting, she followed me to the photoshoot and Damien began taking photos of us. About halfway through the shoot, I got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. After a lot of smiling, crying, and laughing (but mostly crying) Michelle said yes.
Engagement location:
The location where we got engaged was on the beach, facing the lagoon and iconic Mount Otemanu at the Four Seasons Resort.
The Ring:
I purchased Michelle’s engagement ring from South Hills Jewelers in my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The owner is a family friend who personally helped me pick out the ring.
Tell us about your wedding plans:
We are planning to get married about a year from our engagement. Because Michelle is half Indian, our perfect wedding is a culture blend of an Indian wedding and a traditional US wedding.
