The Magical Misty Wedding of Ryan & Carla. We love misty days and beautiful green views like today’s wedding feature. This magical misty wedding has a country feel to it and the weather makes it even feel more classical and romantic. Ryan & Carla’s wedding colors included white, green, and navy as they loved the simplicity. The couple loves a simplistic feel including decor elements with raw wood tables, eucalyptus, and candles.
Greece! We are so jealous. They are planning a honeymoon to Greece at the end of the year to visit a beautiful little island called Ithaca. Engagement Story:
We got engaged in a treehouse overlooking the Waterburg at Marataba Safari Lodge. Ryan surprised me when we arrived at this beautiful Treehouse at the end of our game drive. It was 60km away from any nearest person! I was totally surprised. We got to sleep underneath the stars amongst the sounds of the big 5 in the background. Simply magical!
Wedding Dress Story:
Vonve Bridal Couture. I am quite an indecisive person so this was a very overwhelming experience for me. Initially, I took all my bridesmaids, my mother, mother-in-law, and brother with for my dress fittings. This proved to be very confusing for me so I decided to go back and do the fitting alone. The dress I chose was the one that I felt the most comfortable and myself in.
Favorite Wedding Memory:
Having everyone we loved (including our 2 dogs) with us to share our special day with us and knowing that our wedding was a reflection of who we are:)
The story behind your wedding rings:
Ryan designed my wedding ring and it was made by Charles Greig – it is rose gold and beautiful! My wedding band contains diamonds from Ryan’s Grandmothers.
Wedding Location:
Ever since Ryan can remember he and his family have been visiting Dullstroom over weekends. When I first met Ryan he would always talk about fly fishing in the mist – and before I knew it I was included in part of these family weekend trips. We are currently building a house on Walkersons Estate. Couldn’t have thought of a better place to get married – as it will be part of our lives for years to come! We are excited to bring our children to Walkersons one day:)
Some tips for couples planning their wedding:
It is easy to get lost in the minor details of a wedding. Make sure you and your finance sit down before you start making big decisions and find out what is important to you – make those few things your priority (both time and money).
We also decided to get legally married before and had an intimate civil wedding with our immediate family 3 months before our ‘real’ wedding. This isn’t for everyone but if you have the time to do it I would highly recommend it! We got to spend time with each of our family members and close friends as this is something that you struggle to do on your actual wedding day.
