For those couples who love to do what they want and like, an elopement is perfect. It’s an intimate celebration of your special day. You can either have it alone as a couple or have a small group of family and friends. Especially with the current situation the world finds itself in. It gets more difficult to plan big elaborate weddings. Like most other industries we need to start to re-think how we think about weddings. Read more about the inspiration behind this styled shoot below.
What is the inspiration behind this styled shoot?
As being a native Californian, but now living in Portugal with my husband, I am always inspired by the beauty of both places.
So, I have been eagerly wanting to do an elopement in Alentejo, Portugal. Yet, I found a place in Murrieta, California that was perfection. With hills behind and dried grass and plants. I knew it would be a perfect place for a minimalist, adventurous elopement with neutral elements.
People seem to think weddings and elopements need to be immaculate with luxurious flowers, etc., but I wanted to create a simple, but beautiful elopement that anyone can do, and of course I had to include man’s best friend. I don’t see many elopements with dogs, and pets, but pets are a huge part of people’s lives– why not include them in your special day!
Floral Design & Decor:
I actually made the bouquet, but I wanted a simple and minimal bouquet for people to see how easy an elopement can be! The decor was Simple… Mother Nature was the decor. Some lovely fields in Murrieta, California USA.
Why did you choose the location for your styled shoot?
We live in Portugal now and have been influenced by an area called Alentejo, where many cork trees + plains are. We love this + wanted to find something similar but, with a California vibe so, that’s what we did!
Why did you choose the specific wedding gown or wedding gowns for this styled shoot?
The dress was actually the Brides real wedding gown so, it fit her like a glove + they wanted to take photos again in a more relaxed setting. It also helped that the dress was from one of my favorite dress shops, BHLDN.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding?
Well, we know many are being affected by COVID, and considering eloping… we think Elopements + Intimate weddings are such a great way to make everything you want to happen. Things will be less stressful, more simple yet still stunning, and you will be able to do less of what other want + more of what YOU want! You can even have an international/destination elopement, which is even cooler!!!
