The farm-style Wedding of Kayla & Vaughn

The farm-style Wedding of Kayla & Vaughn in the beautiful Drummond Valley in KwaZulu-Natal.  If you love a country-style wedding, you will really enjoy this wedding.  They got married at The Butler Ranch, a lovely barn-like wedding venue.  The perfect location for the wedding theme they went with.

Burgundy was their primary wedding colour.  It worked so well with the Green layers of the surroundings.  Burgundy is also such a deep colour with so much warmth.  It worked so well with their weddings decor elements.  The couple worked in China and had to plan their wedding remotely.  This is not an easy task to do!

You can find all your wedding inspiration and advice on Vivacious Weddings.  We bring your wedding inspiration from around the world. Engagement Story:

We were teachers in China.  It was New Years Eve and we went out for dinner and then to our local hang out with a few friends. Everyone was having a great night.  We were playing games and just enjoying each other’s company.  As the countdown was coming we all stood around and started counting down.  As we shouted “Happy New Year” he took my hand and took me up onto the stage and went down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  It was the most amazing thing to say “I got engaged in a different country”

Advice to couples planning their wedding:

Get your mom to do it all (ha, ha) On a serious note we would definitely recommend setting a budget at the beginning of your planning stage and try very hard to stick to it. Also, remember that “less is more” There is no need to have everything found in the wedding market at your wedding. Pick a theme and stick to it. I think it is also touching to have one personal item in your décor. In our case, I had my mother hand-embroidered napkin place holders for all our guests.

Wedding Dress Inspiration:

My wedding dress! Stress, stress, stress. As I was away working in China I was unable to find a dress that fit and in the style I preferred. I arrived back in South Africa two weeks before our wedding and my family arrived from the UK one week before our wedding. On a Saturday (A week before our wedding) we arrived at – Coral Island Wedding Gowns with high hopes of being able to find a dress. Not only did I find the one that fits perfectly, but also a dress that gave me butterflies when I put it on. What a relief!

Wedding Colours and Decor Inspiration:

Burgundy: My sister wore a Burgundy dress to her Prom and I fell in love with the colour. The deep, rich burgundy against the backdrop of nature with its greens and browns called to me.

The story behind the Wedding Cake:

A very good friend of Vaughn’s offered to bake our cake and in fitting with the burgundy theme we decided on a naked cake. As a surprise from my mom and dad, they ordered a cake topper in the UK made out of Clay that will serve as a memory to cherish forever. The topper was made by Designs by Denisa and is totally bespoke.

Favourite Wedding Memory:

Being able to see our family and friends again as we hadn’t seen them for three years and hearing each other’s vows and hearing each other say ‘ I DO ‘

Musical Choices:

I walked into the chapel to a recording of Elvis Presley’s: Can’t help falling in love by my cousin Gal-Lee Tal. What an emotional but beautiful song.

We went with oldies and the latest music. We also requested from family members which music they would like.  That way we could accompany everyone so we could all have an amazing time.

Our first dance song was: Why I love you by Major. And the reason why we chose this song was that it explains everything that we are, that we have experienced in each other and how we are together.
