Derek & Kianna’s lovely engagement shoot at Steveston Village, British Columbia

We are excited to share Derek & Kianna’s gorgeous engagement shoot at Steveston Village British Columbia with you.  This lovely couple got engaged October 13, 2o18 after dating for eleven months.  We just had to share their gorgeous engagement session with you.  Kianna and Derek got engaged at their usual picnic spot.  Under an old pear tree along the Fort to Fort Trail in Fort Langley, British Columbia.  This is so romantic.

Imagine getting engaged at your favourite picnic spot which already has so many great memories.  Derek said: “This spot was significant to us because we often went there for picnics. We loved going there to read together and watch the sunset.”

Céline and Yannick from C & Y Photography captured their engagement shoot.  We are totally in love with their photographs.  It has such a vivid real-life feel to them.  For more amazing engagements and proposals, visit our engagement category. Engagement Story:

Kianna:  Derek and I had plans to go out for a date in Fort Langley, which is a spot that we went often for picnic dates.  Derek picked me up and we made our way to Fort Langley, and went for a walk along the trail before going to Fortitude for our dinner reservation.  We thought it would be nice to order a wine flight, and we shared a variety of delicious appetizers before heading down the street to buy some fudge for dessert at our favourite sweet shop.

We window shopped and explored the town some more before Derek suggested that we make our way to our picnic spot along the Fort to Fort Trail to enjoy our fudge and watch the sunset. Once we were set up, Derek asked if he could take a photo of me looking off into the distance towards Mount Baker.

He had convinced me that the lighting was too good to pass up this photo op, and I happily agreed. When I turned around after posing for a photo, Derek was down on one knee holding the most gorgeous engagement ring and asked me to marry him to which, of course I said yes!

Engagement shoot location:

Céline and Yannick took our photos in Steveston, BC. We wanted to have a variety of backdrops for our photos, and Steveston Village is so beautiful.

Engagement Rings:

Derek: We went to Spence Diamonds together to get ideas for ring styles that Kianna might like. She had always admired her grandmother’s engagement ring, so she had her heart set on a marquise cut. There was one particular sample ring that she kept going back to, and I had a similar ring custom made for her.

Describe the perfect wedding:

Kianna: “Yes, we were married on August 31, 2019. Our wedding day felt like a dream! We were married at Shelby’s Pond in Chilliwack, BC. The venue was gorgeous and so perfect for our vintage rustic theme. Our ceremony was held outside. We had four bridesmaids and groomsmen, two flower girls, two sign boys holding chalk signs that said “Uncle Derek…” & “Here comes your girl!”. And a junior bridesmaid pushing our niece/ ring baby in a vintage pram that we restored and decorated with white roses.

My dad walked me down the walked aisle to “Turning Page” by Sleeping at Last (I have had this song picked out since I was fourteen) before giving me away to the man of my dreams. Our reception was held in the barn, and we were surprised with a slideshow that our parents had put together for us. We heard speeches from our loved ones, and before we hit the dance floor I serenaded Derek to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley as my best friend/ MOH played along on her ukulele. We danced the night away with family and friends, and it could not have been a more perfect day!”
